Human Preadipocytes (HPAd) are fibroblast like precursor cells derived from human adipose tissue. They are cryopreserved at the end of primary culture and can be propagated two passages prior to differentiating into Human Adipocytes (HAd). HPAd derived HAd were used to study insulin-stimulated glucose transport, growth hormone enhanced lypolysis, and obese gene expression. Significant differences in lipolysis and leptin production are observed in HPAd and HAd from human omental and subcutaneous adipose tissue.
